I have been running quite a while now and have learned a few things so it was time to put the show on the road with this coaching idea I had.
To start off, I was a distinguished member of the 1986 Antelope Valley High School Cross Country team leading them to their first Golden League Championship in almost 20 years in California. During 1986, I broke the school record and my own personal record twice during that season lowering my 5k mark to 15:04. During my senior year I represented the USA on the Junior Olympic Team in cross country races in Korea, China and Japan. I went on to attend Antelope Valley College where I was named the most valuable runner in 1987 later finishing school at North Carolina State and Kansas University. In 1998 I was seeded in the NYC Marathon with a 2:19 Marathon and have ran Olympic qualifying times in the 3000M Steeplechase and the Marathon (back in the day when I was a youngster)
I continue to run at an elite level today in the Master’s division. In 2014 I was the USA Track & Field National Champion in the 3000M steeplechase, propelling me to become the top ranked American masters runner in the USA in 2015 for the steeplechase. I competed for the Master’s USA Track Team in Lyon France in Aug 2015 where I finished 12th against the world’s elite masters runner. In 2016 I was ranked 9th in the world for 5000 meters indoors in the 45 to 49 age group.
I was tragically hit by a truck while running in 2014. Despite enduring several operations I keep coming back to run because I love it. Even when knocked down, I could not run away from my passion of running and helping others. I even have a scholarship in my name to give back and promote cross country running and education in the hopes of inspiring the next generation of athletes. I am a USATF coach and ASFA certified.
